How to Start an Office Yoga Club

Yoga can provide many benefits to our bodies. Approximately 9.5 percent of U.S. adults have tried yoga before, according to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NIH). Yoga can also improve mental health, your body’s flexibility, and can protect your body from injuries. Here are a few ways you can get the yogis in your office to exhale just a little.

See Who is Interested

Before you decide to start a yoga program, send an email to everyone in your office about your idea. If people reply back saying that they are on board, determine a time that will work best for everyone.

Find a Great Space

Most breakrooms will suffice, as long as the furniture can be rearranged. If you don’t have a large enough breakroom, see if you can make space in your conference room.

Look for an Instructor Certified in Corporate Yoga

To make classes as comfortable as possible for everyone involved, look for instructors who specialize in working with businesses. These instructors will have experience being able to tailor their classes to an array of difficulties.

If You Can’t Form a Group, Exercise at Your Desk

Fortunately, there are yoga stretches that you can do from the comfort of your desk. Hip openers, eagle arms, and seated twists are all very easy to do.
