Zesty Snacks for Super Bowl Sunday

Football Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Get your sweets and fruits all in one! This is an incredibly easy snack to create before the big game.
Time Needed: 30 Minutes
Serves: Up to 20
- Light cocoa candy melts
- White candy melts
- Styrofoam block
- Wax paper
- Narrow cup
- Disposable decorating bag
- Wash your strawberries and dry thoroughly.
- In a melting pot, melt your chocolate. Set it on low.
- While the chocolate melts, cover styrofoam with wax paper.
- Go back to your strawberries and remove the leaves.
- Take a toothpick and stick it in the strawberry.
- Pour some of the chocolate into a cup and dip the strawberry into it, leaving the top of
- the strawberry exposed.
- Stick each strawberry into the styrofoam. Refrigerate them for 10-15 minutes.
- Melt the white chocolate and place it in a decorating bag.
- Use the melted white chocolate to create the spirals of a football. If your strawberry is
- sideways, have one horizontal line and three or four vertical lines.
Bacon Brown Sugar Sausages
For those that love sausage and bacon, this is a must try recipe. Simply double the amount of ingredients below for larger parties.
Time Needed: 3 hours, 10 minutes
Serves: 8 guests
- 1 pound bacon, cut into thirds
- 14 oz. mini smoked sausages
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- Crock-Pot or slow cooker
- Wrap 1/3 of a piece of bacon on each sausage. Secure it with a wooden toothpick.
- Place half of your sausages on the bottom of your crock-pot.
- Sprinkle brown sugar over each sausage.
- Repeat until you have no more sausages.
- Cover and cook on low for three to four hours. Sausages should be bubbly and golden
- when finished.
Mac and Cheese Bites
This is a great twist on a popular side dish for all ages. While it can be a bit tricky to make, your guests will savor every bite.
Time Needed: 45 minutes – 1 hour
Serves: 48 bites
- 4 12-cup nonstick mini muffin tins
- 1/2 pound elbow macaroni
- 1-1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 4 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 ounces deli-sliced American cheese, chopped
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/4 teaspoon smoked Spanish paprika
- 2 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked and chopped
- Preheat over to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Brush your muffin tins with butter.
- Sprinkle two tablespoons of Parmesan cheese against the side of each tin.
- Cook the macaroni for five minutes in a large pot of salt water. Drain when finished.
- In a large saucepan, melt the remaining butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour until
- thoroughly blended. Add milk and continue whisking occasionally for about five
- Once the mixture has thickened, add cheddar and American cheese. Whisk until
- Whisk in the egg yolk and paprika. Fold in bacon and macaroni.
- Fill the wells of the muffin tins to the very top with macaroni. Sprinkle the remaining
- Parmesan cheese on top.
- Bake for 10 minutes, until golden and sizzling, then rotate pans halfway through
- Cool for five minutes. Carefully loosen the mini mac bites with a spoon, then serve and enjoy!
